NEW TO SOCCER?
Welcome to the warm and inclusive community of South Delta United Soccer Club! We're excited to have you join us on this soccer journey.
This guide is meant to help you find and understand the programs available for registration within our club. We have programming for children aged 4-18 (Pre-K—Grade 12).
The Fall Season runs from the week after Labour Day in September through to the start of Spring Break in March. We also take a few weeks off at Christmas Break and observe Statutory Holidays—Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, and Family Day. Halloween is another day when we do not run programming.
At SDU, we're dedicated to the development of our players. All our programs strictly adhere to the CSA’s Long-Term Player Development Plan (LTPD), ensuring your child's growth and progress.
*Practices begin mid-September weekly in Tsawwassen at Winskill Turf for the following ages and run between 5-6 pm or 6-7 pm. The schedule identifies the age group (ie. U6 Boys or U6 Girls) as identified below in Step 1.
step 1: What Age Group is my child?
Players are listed with their birth year and letter for gender primarily. (ie. 2014M for boys and 2014F for girls)
Teams can also be listed in age groups as the year above their current age for that year (ie. 2014M can also be referred to as U9 Boys as they are ten years old this year and deemed “Under 9”).
step 2: What PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE?
Ok, now you know what Age Group your child is. Time to see what is available for your child.
Below, you will see the Programs currently up for registration
U5-U9 HOUSE & PROSPECTS PROGRAMS
This Program is for players of both House and Prospects levels for these age groups.
The U5-9 Program is the introductory program for the club, which serves the Pre K - Grade 3 Age Groups in the South Delta area and is your child’s first step in the SDU Player Development Program. Through our Director of Football, we offer players a top quality curriculum through age appropriate, fun and challenging games.
The program is run by volunteer parent coaches and supported by staff coaches. The focus is on fun and comfort with the ball. Players are placed into teams and have 2 sessions per week - One mid-week practice, and one weekend game. Boys will play Saturday mornings. Girls will play Sunday mornings.
All sessions will take place in Ladner and/or Tsawwassen. The practice schedule comes out in early August.
Teams are provided with turf time and all the required equipment.
Players are provided with a full uniform that they get to keep (jersey, shorts, socks and a ball).
U10-18 HOUSE TEAMS
This program is for those players not interested, or not selected, to play at the U10-18 Select levels. Players at this level play twice per week. Generally, players train one day per week during a weeknight, and play on the weekend. Boys play Saturday while Girls play Sunday. This may vary at the oldest Age Groups, where boys may play Sundays as well. The teams at this level play against teams outside of the club, which means they compete outside of South Delta against both nearby neighbouring clubs and other clubs in the Greater Vancouver Area. Game scheduling and times can vary by age group, though when teams play at home, the younger teams generally play earlier in the day and older groups, later on. Home games will take place in Ladner or Tsawwassen.
Teams are Volunteer Coach led and Club Staff supported at training and games.
Teams are provided with turf time and all the required equipment.
Players are provided with a full uniform that they get to keep (jersey, shorts, socks and a ball).
U10-18 SELECT TEAMS
This program is for those players who have been selected to play at the U10-18 Select level. Players at this level play three or four times per week. Generally, players train twice per week during a weeknights, attend Monday Night Academy (below), and play one game on the weekend. Boys play Saturday while Girls play Sunday. This may vary at the oldest Age Groups, where boys may play Sundays as well. U8-13 MONDAY PLAYER ACADEMY & U8-18 GOALKEEPER ACADEMY
Monday Academy is an extra training environment for players who want to accelerate their development.
Players of any skill level are welcome. Please be aware that Academy is a tiered training environment. In staying with our model of fluid player movement, players will be assessed and placed in groups with other players of equal or similar ability. This may mean that you child will be asked to train with players in an older age group depending on their current level of play. These groups change with frequency dependent on the current development level of the player.
For example, a player may start in the tier 3 group and progress up to the tier 1 group depending on how they develop throughout the season. The amount of “tiers” is dependent on the number of players registered in a particular age group.
step 3: how do i register?
Now that you have decided on the Program you’d like, you will need to register through our PlayMetrics system.
To access the registration system, you will need to click on the banner of the program you’d like to enroll in, above. (REGISTATION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR 2024/25 SEASON- Please email admin@southdeltaunited.com for more information)
Once directed to PlayMetrics, to register in the system, you will need your personal information as well as your child’s information, such as birthdate, address, phone numbers, etc…the usual. We also may ask for your child’s school so we can look to pair up children from the same school as we look to build teams.
Once you have completed your information and profile, PlayMetrics will show you the available programs for your kid(s). See screencap below as a reference.
From here, you choose the program you want by clicking on the REGISTER button on the right.
Once you’ve clicked on the REGISTER button, you will be taken to the following screen…
You can then select the player(s) you’d like to register for that program and it will guide you through to completion.
Once completed, you will receive a confirmation email to the email you have used in the registration process. You can access your PlayMetrics account at any time to see club communications, download the app, and check the status of your child and their team placements.
For our youngest players - U5-9 HOUSE - we generally put teams together later in August as we are usually receiving a lot of late registrations at that time. Expect to hear from us just before the season starts.
I believe that covers most of it, though you may obviously have questions and need assistance. Again, in the event you need help from the club, we are here to help out. Please don’t hesitate to contact our Club Administrator, at admin@southdeltaunited.com to clarify any questions you may have.
